...PHOENIX WITH DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS... [19 Mar 2005|10:21pm]

Okay kids. My friends and I attend college in Michigan and one of our most favourite bands Phoenix decided to tour the states right now. They didn't add a Detroit date until a week after we purchased tickets for the Chicago date. We decided to go to the Detroit show instead because we'd have to miss Monday classes if we were to go to the Chicago show and we really can't afford to do that. We're selling them on ebay for quite a lot cheaper than ticketmaster because ticketmaster sucks my non existant left testicle. Anyway, if you want to go to a good concert pleeeeeeeease helpa sista out and buy these tickets. We're poor college students!!!

We are in the midsts of these series (Except whatever new series we pick for Wednesdays) But don't let that disuade you from coming. If you ask me to, I can bring in a VCD of previously viewed eps. of some series, and in the case of Mai Hime I can give you a DVD.

See you there!

Hi there!

I've just been wondering what's going on with this club -- if the meeting time's changed or if the club is still together (I didn't see anything at the Convocation). I'm a transfer student to Columbia and am looking for people who also love anime/manga as much as I do and thought this would be a good place to start.

Any information would be appreciated. ;)

And then summer began... [06 Jun 2004|06:48pm]

HEy all, well, things have been quiet lately, and I guess that's partly my fault as well. Finals was crazy, I hope everyone else did well. Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll.

For the summer months JAM will not be meeting, but feel free to post things here. If you hear some cool news or start watching a new series, anything is fine really. I hope to see you in the fall.

We are looking for people to take up roles on the JAM board. Anyone is elegible as long as they have a 2.5 or higher GPA. The Roles up are:

2nd SOC Rep.

Any of the first 4 can also be one of the last two. For the most part these positions don't require much time. The SOC rep must be able to attend the SOC meetings that are once a month, Wednesday evenings, If the SOC Rep is unable to attend for some reason, then the @nd must be able to attend. The driving force in the club is likely to be the President, but the Other roles should be willing to take up any tasks appointed to them, such as posting flyers and helping to orginize events like our ACen outing and other things required by Columbia.

For more information please contact me. There will be a Meeting the first friday of the Fall semster to decide who will take what positions and descusse the possibility of alternating meeting days between Wednesdays and Fridays, and cordinating our schedual with Identy Comics.

Later all,
Eva - JAM President 2003-2004

Okay, what's SHE doing here.. [21 Apr 2004|05:48pm]

[ mood | shocked ]

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley. First off, I'm not a student from Columbia College. The reason I joined this community is because I'm currently a high school senior who will be applying to Columbia. I almost flipped when I saw this place! I'm a HUGE anime fan, and I had no idea that Columbia even had an Anime Club. This makes me feel even more excited about possibly attending this college.

I suppose I could introduce myself a bit better, but more info on me can be found at my info page.

I hope to hear some feedback from you all. I'd like very much if you could tell me what college life is like there. It seemed like a very nice campus when I visited last week. ^_^V

It's almost that time again... [20 Apr 2004|02:39pm]

Ok, so ACen's almost here and only a few more weeks till finals time. I wish everyone good luck and hope to see you guys there ^.^

So how bout this awesome spring weather? While it's a bit on the gloomy side today, the tempurature still makes it lovely and a little rain is wonderful, too bad I don't have an umbrella... ^.^

I wanted to take a sorta poll in effort to find out more about people at columbia who are into anime and also to create more conversation in this journal. Unfortunetly this is a free account so I don't think I can make an official poll so instead just respond either to this entry, or make one of your own. Hope to hear from you!

What's your Gender?
What year at Columbia are you?
What's you favorite Genre of Anime?
What anime series are you currently watching?
What Manga are you currently reading?
Do you like sushi (vegitable or otherwise)?
and purely for my own curiousity,
Do you like your tea sweetend or bitter?

Please take a momment to answer these questions, I'm looking forward to your responses ^.^ (I'll respond in a seperate post)

A Lil' Update for everyone... [21 Mar 2004|02:46am]

Well No one's posting anything here but me it seems, But Anime Club continues to meet. We are preparing for our Anual trip to ACen. Anyone who wishes to stay in the club hotel room, or get a refund on their admission must come to one of the upcoming meetings so I can take you information. Our proposal must be in 3 weeks prior to the event. If you want a refund you MUST Pre-register for ACen. You can do so by mail or online at the ACen website: http://www.acen.org/.

Also, attendance to the meetings has been minamal the last few weeks. The club is open for members to make it what they want. If you have ideas about what would make the club more interesting to you, feel free to show up and make sugestions, we'd love to hear from ya!

See you soon!
